We've just posted a
statement by Brian on the environment. With central Ohio now in non-attainment status for failing to meet US EPA ozone pollution standards, central Ohio will be required to develop a plan by 2007 demonstrating how it will reduce emissions to get back into attainment. This is an economic issue as well as a health issue. The typical ways of reducing ozone will likely increase pressure on central Ohio businesses to move to clearer, cheaper skies just outside the non-attainment zone.
Brian's plans would address both the economic and health issues. If the League of Conservation Voters rating is any indication, his opponent has no plan, except more of the same. Although they once endorsed Hughes, his
2004 rating for votes on the environment is an "F".
